Biography
Miriam Vializ-Briggs
VP, Marketing, Infrastructure Initiatives, IBM.

Miriam Vializ-Briggs is vice president-marketing for cross brand businesses in IBM's Systems & Technology Group. These include Linux, Grid Computing and Virtualization Solutions. In this role, she is responsible for developing go to market strategies and offerings globally to address these high growth new technologies.

Prior to her current assignment, Briggs was the vice president-marketing for IBM's Storage Systems Group. In this capacity, she was responsible for revitalizing IBM's image and market share in this highly competitive market. Other previous assignments include vice president, integrated marketing-Global Small and Medium business unit and director of brand strategy in the S/390 (mainframe) Division. She joined the IBM Corporation in October, 1995.

Prior to joining IBM, Briggs spent 13 years at the American Express Company, holding successive levels of responsibility in both the Card and Consumer Travel organizations. In her last assignments there, she served as vice president, Leisure Travel marketing and vice president, Thomas Cook Integration. Briggs began her marketing career in brand management at General Foods Corporation.

Briggs was recognized in 2004 by the National Society of Hispanic MBAs with the "Brillante Award". This is the most prestigious honor presented by the non-profit organization of over 6,000 Hispanic MBAs in the US and Puerto Rico. In 2003, Briggs was also recognized by "Hispanic Engineer" magazine as one of the 50 top Hispanics in technology and business.

Briggs holds a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University and an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She currently serves as IBM's representative on the Advisory Council of the Hispanic Association for Corporate Responsibility (HACR) and is Co-Chair of IBM's Multicultural Women's initiatives. She is a frequent speaker on the topic of "Branding Yourself."
