Speaker: Scott Klasing, IBM Global Services.
Management of grid and virtualization environments is often considered to be difficult to understand and challenging to implement. There are different things to consider. How do I achieve problem determination when there are so many components? What is Web services management and is it important? Is Grid management any different than management of distributed computing environments? What tools and services matter?
In this presentation we will survey the grid/virtualization management landscape to highlight important trends and capabilities on the management front. What you need to focus on and why. We won't go extremely deep in any area, but we'll look at a variety of processes, technologies, and capabilities to better understand how to go about establishing an effective management system for grid and virtualization environments. We'll connect operational management to service and process management in the context of grid and virtualization. We'll look at existing products and capabilities and how integrated they are with the grid system. Finally, we'll cover SOA management and discuss its relevance to grid and virtualized environments.
