Ian Penny is Director, Strategy & Enterprise Architecture working in the Corporate IT Strategy & Planning organization for Pfizer Inc where he provides leadership and strategic direction on all aspects of technical architecture. In 2005 he was the global lead for the Target Architecture team in Pfizer's Adapting to Scale IT program with responsibility for defining the shared infrastructure architecture. Ian provides leadership for Grid computing, Virtualization, Storage systems, Linux, and other innovative computing technologies currently deployed at Pfizer.
Ian has experience of operations, engineering, and architecture in the Pharmaceutical, Financial Services, and Legal industries. He started his career as a UK government funded research scientist in parallel and distributed systems after graduating with honors from the University of Kent, England. He lives in Westchester, NY and is currently working on Pfizer's next generation application hosting environment.
