Wolfgang Gentzsch, Head of German D-Grid, Visiting Scientist at RENCI at UNC

Dr. Wolfgang Gentzsch is currently head of the German D-Grid Initiative. He is member of the standards Global Grid Forum Steering Committee as area director for major grid projects around the world. He is vice chair of the CEC e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) which targets at building one e-Science infrastructure for all Europe. He is adjunct professor of computer science at Duke University in Durham und at the University in Charlotte, and visiting scientist at the Renaissance Computing Institute of the University of Chapel Hill. He also serves on President Bush's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) established in 2006. Before, Dr. Gentzsch was Managing Director of MCNC Grid & Data Center Services, and Sun’s Senior Director for Grid Computing. He was Founder and President of Genias Software and Gridware which has been acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2000.
